Value for Money! Díaz Contributes 16 Goals in 17 Games, Answering All Doubts

Luis Díaz scored a sensational goal against Union Berlin, finding the net from a seemingly impossible angle to make it 1-0. Even opposing coach Steffen Baumgart exclaimed excitedly: “We all looked at each other and said, ‘Wow! That’s football.’” This was his 16th goal contribution in 17 games since joining Bayern Munich.
Equally impressive: For Bayern’s No. 14, he already shone in last Tuesday’s 2-1 Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain. Despite occasional inconsistencies, overall, Díaz’s transfer has proven to be excellent value! Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has also vindicated himself through this, after all, he was criticized for this transfer.
Didi Hamann said shortly after the transfer: “Díaz is a very good footballer, but what Bayern Munich is doing is not a normal business model. Spending that money (€67 million) on a 28-year-old and paying him more than he earned in England? Liverpool is laughing.”
However, after Díaz’s first three months at Säbener Straße, one thing is certain: Eberl’s decision on the winger has so far been proven correct. Díaz’s goal contributions have already surpassed Kingsley Coman’s total from last season (9 goals, 6 assists in 45 games) and are on the verge of overtaking Leroy Sané’s (13 goals, 6 assists in 48 games).
Of course, if Díaz had converted those missed big chances, his goal tally could be 5 to 10 more by now...
