To Boost Revenue, Barcelona Plans to Play an Overseas Friendly Match in December

Barcelona is actively seeking opportunities to increase the club’s revenue, and one of the methods is to participate in well-paid friendly matches.
Recently, Barcelona received an offer to play a friendly match in Peru this December, and has consulted relevant bodies (La Liga, RFEF, AFE) to confirm its feasibility—after all, players are entitled to a Christmas break.
Currently, Barcelona has two options: one is to travel to Peru for the friendly, and the other is to play a friendly in Morocco. Notably, Barcelona had already received an invitation to play a friendly in Casablanca this summer, but ultimately declined it because the club was about to embark on an Asian tour to South Korea and Japan at that time.
Now, with both options on the table, Barcelona’s board needs to make a decision as soon as possible. According to reporters from Camel.live, Barcelona internally believes that playing the friendly in Morocco is more feasible, as the round trip from Barcelona to Morocco can be completed within 24 hours—meaning the team can depart in the morning and return in the evening.
In contrast, the distance to Lima, the capital of Peru, is much greater, making it more difficult to arrange the match, especially before the players’ Christmas break. Additionally, there will be a league match against Espanyol on January 3 or 4, 2026, and traveling to Peru for the friendly would leave Barcelona’s players with very limited rest time.
Nevertheless, Barcelona has clearly stated that it will carefully consider both offers, as both provide substantial remuneration. Regarding the offer from Peru, the expected remuneration is between 7 million and 8 million euros.
