Szczęsny Has Conceded in 9 Consecutive Games, Still Without a Clean Sheet This Season

While not entirely certain, most Barcelona fans are hoping that Hansi Flick’s words—that Joan García will return after the international break—will come true. At Estadio Balaídos, it was another poor night as Wojciech Szczęsny failed to keep a clean sheet for the 9th consecutive game, conceding a total of 17 goals in this period. Such negative stats have almost negated all the efforts of the team’s entire attack.

Clearly, Barcelona’s defensive problems are structural, going beyond the performance of any individual player. The situation in La Liga is little better: two painful losses, a heavy defeat in Seville, and a loss to Real Madrid in El Clásico. Additionally, he has conceded in matches against Real Sociedad, Girona, Elche, and last night against Celta.
