Shevchenko: I Love San Siro, But the New Stadium Is an Important Step for Milan and Italian Football

AC Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko stated that the new stadium is an important step for both Milan and Italian football.
AC Milan and Inter Milan jointly issued a statement this week, officially announcing the acquisition of San Siro. They plan to demolish the stadium and build a new shared venue for the two clubs in the future. Shevchenko first said: “Playing at San Siro is full of challenges, passion and history. I have had a connection with San Siro since I was 14, when I came here with Dynamo Kyiv for a youth tournament. The moment I stepped into the stadium, I felt something special. I love San Siro— the fans make this stadium so unique.”
Shevchenko added: “But I believe this (the new stadium) is a very important step for the future of Milan and Italian football. The design of the new stadium will be crucial, because if you respect San Siro’s traditions, legacy and the legendary players who created history here to the maximum extent, you won’t lose these values. We can do something truly positive, because nothing lasts forever.”
