Santos Director of Football Backs Neymar: I Will Always Support You in Prosperity and Adversity

Alexandre Mattos, Director of Football at Brazilian club Santos FC, posted a message on social media to voice his support for Neymar.

Note: Santos are currently in the relegation zone of the Brazilian Serie A. They lost to Flamengo last Sunday, during which Neymar clashed with teammates and referees multiple times. He was substituted in the 40th minute of the second half and angrily returned to the dressing room before the final whistle.

Mattos wrote: “Geniuses are always misunderstood—this has always been the case throughout human history. But geniuses are also ordinary people: they make mistakes and do the right things, laugh and cry, have emotions and sincerity, breathe and live, and struggle through life’s setbacks. Neymar, you are such a genius. Those who know you understand your true self, your sincere heart, your humility, your care for everyone around you, and that you are a good father and a good friend.”
