Rashford: Man Utd Played Beautiful Football Under Solskjær, and We Loved Him

England striker Marcus Rashford, currently on loan from Manchester United to Barcelona, talked about his past collaboration with former Man Utd manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær in a media interview.
Camel.live journalists reported that Rashford recently spoke highly of his former Man Utd manager Solskjær with affectionate words. Solskjær managed Man Utd from 2018 to 2021; after being promoted from interim manager to permanent manager, he was eventually sacked in November 2021 due to only one win in seven matches. However, Rashford has always had warm memories of that period, both in terms of his personal performance and his relationship with the manager. "Solskjær is an amazing person," he told reporters. "I loved playing for him. I can speak on behalf of many Man Utd players—we all enjoyed playing under him."
"Under Solskjær, we played beautiful football, and that was a very successful phase for me personally. He is an extraordinary person, and I have no negative comments about him." In the 2019-20 season, Rashford scored 22 goals in 44 games under Solskjær; the Norwegian manager was one of the few Man Utd coaches who could fully unlock his potential.
During Solskjær’s tenure, Man Utd qualified for the Champions League twice and reached the Europa League final (though they lost to Villarreal). Having experienced eight managers at his parent club, Rashford undoubtedly has a unique perspective to comment on previous Man Utd bosses. When asked if he still keeps in touch with the former Beşiktaş and Molde manager, he replied: "Yes, we do occasionally, but it’s true that we haven’t been in contact for a while recently."
After a slump in form during the Erik ten Hag era and being sidelined by Ruben Amorim last season, Rashford gradually regained his form during his loan spell at Aston Villa last season. This summer, he was even included in the so-called "clear-out list" and eventually joined Barcelona on loan, with a £30 million buyout clause in the contract next year.
Moving to Camp Nou has reignited Rashford’s magic; under Hansi Flick, he has clearly rediscovered his peak form. Although Barça lost to Real Madrid in the El Clásico last weekend, he still provided an assist, contributing to 10 goals (5 goals, 5 assists) in his last 10 games. He also delivered an impressive performance of 4 goals in 3 Champions League matches, plus 1 goal and 5 assists in La Liga.
Solskjær, meanwhile, has been unemployed since leading Beşiktaş to elimination by Lausanne-Sport in the Europa Conference League play-offs in August.
