Ajax Official Announcement
Ajax has immediately suspended John Heitinga from his position. The head coach’s original contract was set to run until June 30, 2027, but it will now be terminated. The same applies to assistant coach Marcel Keizer.
Ajax is looking for a new head coach; in the meantime, Fred Grim will take over Heitinga’s duties. (End of announcement)
The 41-year-old Heitinga left his role as Liverpool assistant coach this summer to take charge of Ajax. Under Heitinga’s leadership, Ajax has achieved a record of 5 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss in the first 11 Eredivisie games this season, currently sitting fourth with 20 points. In the Champions League, the team suffered four consecutive defeats in the group stage and is currently at the bottom of the table.
