Porter’s Opportunity
Arsenal youth goalkeeper Jack Porter will travel to Qatar with the England U17 national team to participate in the FIFA U17 World Cup.
He was once the youngest starter in the club’s history—during last season’s EFL Cup Third Round match against Bolton—until Max Dowman broke that record in a game against Brighton.
The 17-year-old Porter has been training with Mikel Arteta’s first team. After two matches (a 1-0 win and a 2-2 draw) against France at St. George's Park, he was named in Neil Ryan’s 21-man squad for the trip to the Middle East.
A total of 48 teams will compete in Qatar, and England’s first match will be against Venezuela next Tuesday.
Brazil’s Home Advantage
In the upcoming international break, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhães will feel the comfort of a "home" venue, as Brazil will play a friendly against Senegal at the Emirates Stadium on November 15.
Incredibly, this will be Brazil’s 10th match at the stadium.
Their last visit to North London was in 2018, when Neymar scored the winning goal to help Brazil beat Uruguay 1-0.
Integrating into the Team
Cristian Mosquera’s integration into the team has been faster than anyone expected. The 21-year-old made his debut in Arsenal’s away match against Liverpool in August and has maintained consistent performances ever since.
The highest praise for him is that when he replaces William Saliba—who is currently sidelined with an injury—the team’s performance and defensive solidity remain almost unchanged.
This is partly due to his quick integration into the team and his efforts to build good relationships with teammates.
This was immediately evident during the pre-season tours in Singapore and Hong Kong this summer. After joining from Valencia, he arrived in London and within a few hours, he was hanging out with fellow Spanish speakers David Raya, Mikel Merino and Gabriel at a high-end shopping mall.
Mosquera’s biggest concern was food, as he had heard many bad things about British cuisine while in Spain.
But he revealed: “In Spain, some people say the food here isn’t as good as in Spain, but in fact, I’m very satisfied with the food here too!”
