Lee Sharpe: Onana Won’t Return to Manchester United; Lammers Combines Van der Sar and Schmeichel

Former Manchester United player Lee Sharpe recently gave an interview, stating he believes Andre Onana will not return to the club.
Sharpe said: “I’d be very surprised if Onana comes back to the club after his summer loan move. Lammers seems to have cemented that position now, and I don’t think Onana would be willing to return as a substitute—I don’t think we’ll see Onana at Old Trafford again.”
“Lammers has already made some brilliant saves for Manchester United and looks very calm. I’ve seen some comparisons to Peter Schmeichel, but Schmeichel was clearly not calm!”
“I see similarities between the two in terms of saving ability and the way they command the penalty area. He’s fearless in coming off his line to cut out crosses, just like Schmeichel did back in the day. I actually see a combination of Schmeichel and Edwin van der Sar in Lammers—he has Van der Sar’s calmness and composure, along with Schmeichel’s shot-stopping ability and goalkeeping skills.”
“I hope this isn’t a flash in the pan for him or Manchester United, but something that continues. He has to stay consistent, but you can already see the confidence he’s brought to the defense. He’s kept clean sheets and made saves that many other goalkeepers probably wouldn’t have— I hope he can keep it up.”
