If Šeško Suffers Severe Knee Injury and Misses Months, Manchester United May Be Forced to Sign a Striker in Winter Window

Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim is concerned that striker Benjamin Šeško has suffered a serious knee injury, which may force the club to enter the January transfer market.
The 22-year-old Šeško came on as a substitute in the 58th minute of Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur but was forced off in the 88th minute due to a tackle by Micky van de Ven. The substitution left the away team with only ten men on the field, as Amorim had used all his substitution slots.
Thanks to Matthijs de Ligt’s stoppage-time equalizer at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 96th minute, Manchester United extended their unbeaten run to five games. Šeško was dropped by Amorim after a poor performance in the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest last week. The striker has scored only two goals in 12 appearances for the Red Devils since joining from RB Leipzig for £73.62 million this summer. The only other senior striker in the squad is Brian Brobbey.
When asked if he was worried about Šeško’s shooting confidence, Amorim replied: “No, I don’t think that’s the most pressing issue right now. Just like he scored in two consecutive games after a previous goal drought, this is normal for a striker. I’m more worried about his injury because it’s a knee problem and the situation is unclear, and the team needs Benjamin to be stronger.”
Pressed for an update on Šeško’s injury, Amorim added: “I know nothing. When it comes to knee injuries, you can never predict.”
Amorim hinted that if Šeško is sidelined for months, Manchester United will be forced to sign a player in the winter window. When asked about winter transfer plans, Amorim said: "We have to assess the situation comprehensively. We need to confirm his injury first. Of course, we will also face the departure of players for the Africa Cup of Nations, but this has long been a known issue. We could have planned ahead in the summer, but if there’s only one game a week, it will lead to a lot of players being unavailable. This situation will be difficult to manage, and we’ll see if we can strengthen the squad and make up for the losses when the transfer window opens. Until then, we have to make the most of our existing resources."
