What has happened in the transfer market in recent weeks has not pleased Uli Hoeneß, honorary president of Bayern Munich, at all. In a brief speech, he called on the Bundesliga not to follow the path of the Premier League.

Hoeneß is shocked by the development of the international transfer market, where billions of euros have changed hands in recent weeks. In the eyes of Bayern Munich's honorary president, there is too much money in the transfer market. "I am shocked by what has happened in international football over the past six to eight weeks," the 73-year-old said on Tuesday at an event held by the German Football League (DFL) in Berlin.

Hoeneß's criticism is mainly directed at the Premier League. English clubs alone have spent 3.5 billion euros on new signings this summer—a new record. One of the "victims" is Bayern Munich, which had planned to sign Florian Wirtz and then Nick Woltemade. However, the English clubs were ultimately able to offer the two players more money.

Hoeneß called on German clubs to stop accepting huge transfer fees: “This will not end well. We in the Bundesliga must go our own way and set an example. We must show strength and not accept money from Arabs and American hedge funds. The DFL must ensure that Bundesliga clubs never have to accept such money.”
