In this round of the Champions League, during Bayern Munich’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

The Colombian winger could face an additional ban from UEFA after committing a violent foul on Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi during his team’s 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
“In the concluded fourth round of the Champions League group stage, Luis Díaz committed a brutal foul on Achraf Hakimi in Bayern Munich’s Champions League match against PSG. The Colombian international was a hero after scoring twice in the first half, but was shown a straight red card in the second half for a reckless tackle from behind on his opponent.

When Díaz’s scissor tackle caught the left ankle of PSG’s right-back, Hakimi stayed on the ground for a long time and eventually left the pitch in tears with assistance. Despite protests from Bayern players, the on-field referee firmly showed the red card. Bayern head coach Vincent Kompany said calmly after the match: ‘Accidents are inevitable in a game. I don’t think he intentionally hurt anyone. I hope Hakimi recovers soon; this incident stemmed from the intensity of the game.’ But Camel Live has learned that the Colombian winger will still face severe punishment.

According to Champions League regulations, a red card results in an automatic one-match ban, so Díaz is certain to miss the crucial away match against Arsenal on November 26. However, in accordance with UEFA Disciplinary Regulation Article 63.01, UEFA has the right to impose enhanced penalties for serious fouls. Typically, such violent fouls result in a three-match ban, and UEFA may also extend the ban to domestic leagues.

This means Díaz may consecutively miss three group stage matches against Arsenal, Sporting CP (December 9), and Union Saint-Gilloise (January 21), and will not be able to return to action until the away match against PSV Eindhoven on January 28, 2026. In recent years, UEFA has rarely imposed a ban longer than three matches for similar fouls; since 2020, only Savić was banned for four matches (later reduced to three) for elbowing Rudiger.”
