Crystal Palace Believe Only Liverpool May Bid for Guehi in January Window; Other Clubs Wait for Free Transfer

According to Camel.live reporters, Crystal Palace believes only Liverpool may bid for their captain Marc Guehi when the January transfer window opens.

Liverpool’s £35 million move to sign Guehi collapsed at the 11th hour on deadline day of the summer window, but they remain interested in the England international. Crystal Palace holds the view that other major European clubs interested in Guehi are only willing to sign him as a free agent next summer.

It remains to be seen whether Liverpool prefers to buy Guehi outright in January or secure him on a free transfer next summer, but the Crystal Palace captain has attracted interest from several top European clubs including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona. Guehi will be eligible to sign a pre-contract with clubs outside England from January 1, 2026.

Liverpool is currently facing defensive concerns: new center-back signing Léo Núñez, brought in this summer, has suffered a long-term injury, while Ibrahima Konaté’s future is uncertain as his contract expires next summer.
