Cristiano Ronaldo: Manchester United Is on the Wrong Path; They Have Potential but Face Structural Issues

Cristiano Ronaldo discussed Manchester United during the first part of his exclusive interview with Piers Morgan, which has been aired.
Question: What do you think is really wrong with Manchester United, and can it be fixed?
Ronaldo: The reason I feel sad is that one of the world’s biggest football clubs—a club that still holds a place in my heart—needs to follow wise and capable people to rebuild the entire foundation of the club.
You can look at the Class of ’92; they were indeed stars, but they were all young players back then. So what Manchester United needs is a proper structure, which they don’t have right now. That’s the key. I hope they can change this in the near future because the club has immense potential and is still one of the most important teams of the 21st century.
Question: Do you still check Manchester United’s results? Does it make you unhappy?
Ronaldo: Of course, of course. I’ve always said, and I emphasize this—Manchester United will always be in my heart, and I love Manchester United. But we need to be honest with ourselves and say that Manchester United is not on the right path; they need to change.
Question: So what do you think Erik ten Hag should do?
Ronaldo: I think he just needs to do his best, give it his all. What else can he do? Create a miracle? Miracles are impossible. In Portugal, miracles are Fátima (a reference to the religious site associated with miracles).
Even the players—Manchester United has good players, but there are some players who don’t understand in their minds what it means to play for Manchester United.
