Bayern Plans 5-Year New Contract & €20m Annual Salary for Upamecano; Real Madrid Monitoring

Bayern Munich is accelerating contract extension talks with French center-back Dayot Upamecano, while Real Madrid continues to monitor his situation.

For Real Madrid, their recruitment efforts have not ceased. In defense, Los Blancos are closely watching Bayern Munich’s center-back Upamecano, whose future at the club remains uncertain. Although the club has made progress in renewal talks with the player, no final agreement has been reached.

Bayern hopes to extend Upamecano’s contract until June 2031, with an annual salary of around €20 million. However, tempted by a new challenge, Upamecano may respond to Real Madrid’s call—if the renewal fails, Real would be the most competitive destination.

His technical attributes, match experience, and potential free agent status at the end of the season make him a "perfect reinforcement" in Real’s eyes. Additionally, the French center-back has good personal relationships with several French internationals in Real’s squad, so La Liga would not be an unfamiliar environment. Manager Xabi Alonso, who faced him during his time managing in the Bundesliga, knows him well.

The reality is that while Real is looking for a center-back, the club is aware that Éder Militão has returned and has full confidence in Dean Huijsen. They do need more reinforcements but will never seek them through a bidding war. Currently, Konaté's transfer is progressing positively, while Upamecano and his agent’s situation is stagnant.

Notably, the French defender’s current agent is deeply involved in Paris Saint-Germain’s decision-making. Though Luis Enrique has not listed him as a priority, Upamecano remains a potential target for PSG. This transfer saga is set to be one of the focuses of future transfer windows.
