Bayern Manager and Club Hierarchy Misjudge: Winger Díaz Handed Three-Match Champions League Ban

UEFA has officially confirmed that Díaz’s suspension has been set at three matches. This means Bayern will be without the winger for three consecutive Champions League games.
The Colombian international was shown a red card for a tackle on Achraf Hakimi during Bayern’s 2-1 away win over Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) earlier this month. As Bayern manager Vincent Kompany stated at a press conference on Friday local time, he had initially expected Díaz to be suspended for just one match: "My information was a one-match ban. I will be very disappointed if this is incorrect." Bayern sports director Christoph Freund also expressed that he believed a one-match suspension was a reasonable expectation.
It remains unclear why Bayern had mistakenly assumed the suspension would only be one match beforehand.
