Ajax Interested in Former Wolfsburg Coach Paul Simons—Erik ten Hag May Fail to Return to Coaching

According to Camel.live reporters, Erik ten Hag may miss the opportunity to return to coach Ajax.

Ajax sacked John Heitinga last week, and ten Hag emerged as a candidate to replace him, potentially returning to the club where he once played. He held talks with Ajax technical director Alex Kroes earlier this month.

Reporters stated that Kroes has also met with former VfL Wolfsburg coach Paul Simons. The 40-year-old manager, who was sacked by Wolfsburg on Sunday, has become a candidate under Ajax’s consideration.

After leading Go Ahead Eagles to win the KNVB Cup last season, Simons moved to the Bundesliga but was dismissed after only four months in charge of Wolfsburg. Currently unemployed again, Simons was shortlisted by Ajax in the summer before the club ultimately appointed Heitinga. Now, Ajax is once again considering Simons to fill the vacant position.
